Day 1: Marrakech to Boumalne Dades via High Atlas & Skoura

Your desert adventure begins with an 8:00-9:00 AM pickup from your Marrakech hotel. We’ll journey through the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at scenic viewpoints to admire the dramatic landscapes.

Continuing to Ouarzazate, we’ll visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah before arriving in Skoura, where you can wander through its enchanting palm oasis filled with hidden kasbahs. The day concludes in the fragrant Valley of Roses, known for its cosmetic rose production, before settling at your comfortable hotel in Boumalne Dades for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Boumalne Dades to Merzouga via Todra Gorges & Erfoud

After breakfast, we’ll follow a route lined with ancient ksour fortresses and oases, where you’ll see grazing camels against a backdrop of red and mauve rock formations.

Our journey takes us to the spectacular Todra Gorges, where 500m-high cliffs tower above a lush palm grove – you’ll have free time to explore this natural wonder. We’ll then visit Erfoud’s fascinating fossil workshops before stopping at Rissani’s authentic souk, one of Morocco’s most traditional markets. The day ends in Merzouga, where your hotel awaits facing the golden Erg Chebbi dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert Experience with Nomads & Camel Trek

Today immerses you in authentic Sahara experiences. A morning 4×4 excursion takes you along former Paris-Dakar rally routes to visit desert nomads, where you’ll share traditional mint tea. We’ll explore Khamlia village with its Gnawa music heritage and see famous film locations like the “Sahara” movie oasis.

After a homemade Berber pizza lunch with a local family, you’ll return to the hotel to rest before the evening’s highlight: a camel trek at sunset into the dunes. Your luxury desert camp awaits with comfortable tents, a delicious dinner, and magical drum music under endless stars.

Day 4: Merzouga to Ouarzazate via Rissani & Draa Valley

Wake early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast at camp. After returning to Merzouga by camel, we’ll visit Rissani’s sprawling market – the largest in southern Morocco – where locals trade everything from spices to livestock.

Our route then follows the stunning Draa Valley, a 200km ribbon of palm groves dotted with ancient kasbahs. As we ascend into the mountains, the landscape transforms before arriving in Ouarzazate by evening for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 5: Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou

Our final day begins with Ouarzazate’s famous film studios, where blockbusters like “Gladiator” and “Kingdom of Heaven” were shot. Next comes the crown jewel: UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, the best-preserved kasbah in Morocco.

You’ll have ample time to explore its labyrinthine alleys and climb to the summit for panoramic views. We’ll then cross back over the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch amidst the scenic landscapes before returning to Marrakech by late afternoon, where we’ll transfer you to your accommodation to conclude this unforgettable desert experience.
