DAY 1: Marrakech → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Rose Valley → Merzouga

Your adventure begins at 6:00 AM with pickup from your Marrakech hotel/riad. We’ll immediately set out across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), making several stops to admire both the breathtaking landscapes and traditional Berber villages along the route.

After descending the mountains, we’ll reach the desert gateway and visit the legendary Ait Benhaddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has served as a filming location for over 20 major productions including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. You’ll have time to capture panoramic photos of this ancient kasbah.

Next, we’ll explore Ouarzazate, Morocco’s “Hollywood,” where we’ll visit the renowned Atlas Film Studios. Continuing south, we’ll discover the fragrant Rose Valley where local farmers harvest approximately 400 tons of rose petals annually for conversion into rosewater and beauty products.

Our journey then follows the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward the desert. Upon reaching Merzouga, you’ll mount camels for a sunset trek across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. The evening features an unforgettable overnight in a desert camp, complete with traditional Berber music under a canopy of stars – a truly magical experience worth capturing on camera.

DAY 2: Merzouga → Daraa Valley → Ouarzazate → Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

Wake before dawn to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After this breathtaking morning experience, you’ll ride camels back to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower.

Our return journey to Marrakech begins with stops at scenic viewpoints in the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The main highlight will be the lush Daraa Valley, Morocco’s longest palm oasis and primary date-producing region. Here you’ll see thousands of palm trees stretching along the valley floor.

We’ll then retrace our route through Ouarzazate before ascending back over the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll arrive back in Marrakech by evening, where we’ll drop you off at your accommodation, concluding your memorable two-day desert adventure.
